UMass women's basketball alumna Tamara Tatham (2003-07) scored 11 points to help lead Team Canada to a 69-54 win over Mozambique in the first game of the FIBA World Championship for the Canadians. UMass field hockey begins Atlantic 10 competition with a trip to Richmond on Friday, Sept. 26. The Minutewomen have won the most recent three meetings between the sides, but the Spiders lead the all-time series by the slimmest of margins, 12-11. Major League Lacrosse staff writer Patty Shields reviewed the 2014 Rochester Rattlers season, which culminated with an appearance in the MLL Championship Game. UMass men's lacrosse alumnus Kevin Leveille (2000-03) figured heavily into the success of the squad as he finished with 357 regular season points over 114 games and had a historic six-goal outing during the MLL semifinals to push the Rattlers into the championship game. University of Massachusetts women's basketball alumna Tamara Tatham (2003-07) and Team Canada completed a pair of exhibition games over the weekend to close out their precursor play to the 2014 FIBA World Championship.
Tatham had nine points, eight rebounds and four assists during 69-66 overtime loss to Cuba on Friday evening. She followed that performance up with five points, three rebounds and one assist against Spain in a 66-46 defeat the next day.
Canada is in Group B with France, Mozambique and host-Turkey. The first game for the Canadian side is on Saturday, Sept. 27.

UMass men's lacrosse alumnus Will Manny (2010-13) was chosen for the 24-man Team USA roster set by the national organization for the Seatown Classic. Manny will play with the U.S. side at the event hosted in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, Oct. 18 as one of six attackman chosen.

University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse alumnus Tim Soudan (1987-90) was recently chosen as the U.S. National Team's Assistant General Manager ahead of the 2015 FIL World Indoor Championship, as announced by Team USA this week.
Soudan competed for UMass from 1987-90, when he recorded 114 points out of the midfield on 84 goals and 30 assists. He was a two-time USILA All-American during his Minuteman tenure and followed up his collegiate success with an extended professional career in outdoor and indoor lacrosse and two gold medal-winning FIL World Championship appearances with Team USA (1994, 1998). Soudan is currently the head coach of the Rochester Rattlers (MLL) and previously served as an assistant general manager for the Rochester Knighthawks (NLL).

Inside Lacrosse released its 2014 Power 100 Freshman Rankings, compiled by the IL staff, this week. UMass newcomer Peter Lindley was slotted in the No. 95 spot following a four-year standout career at Darien High School that included 143 goals scored.
