Per a press release on the team's website, The Ontario Reign have agreed to terms with former UMass hockey captain Rocco Carzo for the 2014-15 season. Carzo was acquired by Ontario from the Florida Everblades in February and enjoyed success with the Reign in his first full season of professional hockey, tallying 18 points (5g, 13a) in 17 games, highlighted by a nine-game point streak from Mar. 8 through Mar. 29, in which he buried four goals and added nine assists.
UMass hockey alums Mike Kostka and Rocco Carzo have both been good fits for their new clubs in the recent weeks. Kostka, who was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Lightning from the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 23, has two goals and three assists for five points and is a +5 over his 10 games with the Lightning. Tampa Bay, winners of five straight, currently sits second in the Atlantic Division and boasts the third-best record in the Eastern Conference.
Carzo, in his first full season of pro hockey in the ECHL, was traded from the Florida Everblades to the Ontario Reign back on Feb. 24. Since joining the Reign, Carzo has logged seven assists in seven games and currently has an active four-game point streak. In Ontario's most recent contest, Carzo was named the second star of the game after helping the Reign defeat the Idaho Steelheads, 6-2.

UMass hockey seniors Darren Rowe and Rocco Carzo, who each signed ECHL contracts last week, both enjoyed great opening weekends of their pro careers.
On Saturday, Carzo scored two shorthanded goals in a 2:37 span to help lead the Florida Everblades to a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones, a victory that clinched a berth in the ECHL playoffs for the Everblades for the 15th consecutive season. Playing in just his second professional game, Carzo finished the night with three points (2g, 1a), including the game-winning goal, was a +3 and was named the game's No. 1 star.
Then on Sunday, Rowe was a part of a third period comeback that helped the Utah Grizzlies extend their unbeaten streak to nine games, scoring his first professional goal at the 9:33 mark of the stanza.

Rocco Carzo had a simple message for his teammates before his first game as co-captain of the Massachusetts hockey team against defending national champion BostonCollege on Oct. 19.
"Just keep it calm," he said, "keep it on the ice."
No one embraced that message more than the senior forward, who went out and scored two goals in the Minutemen's 5-4 loss in overtime to the No.3 Eagles, marking the first multi-goal game of his collegiate career.
And while Carzo's goals made for quite the accomplishment that night, he was more excited that he helped put his team up, 3-0, against one of the top teams in the nation at the time.
"It's exciting. I wanted to start off good as captain, but the feeling that we were up 3-0 on the No. 3 team was even better," Carzo said. "It's better than the goals. It's helping out the team that's best."

Over the summer break, Langeraap worked for the UMass Athletic Facilities & Operations crew. One of the projects he worked on was the rebuilding of the outfield wall at the softball complex. Carzo spent part of his off-season training with the Chicago Blackhawks at their Prospect Camp.
