Following one of its most successful seasons in program history, the UMass women's lacrosse team placed four players on the
IWLCA All-Northeast Region First and Second Teams as announced by the organization on Wednesday night.
Jackie Lyons and Ali Houlis were both named to the first team and are now eligible to be named to the IWLCA All-American Teams which will be announced Monday, May 30.
Katie Ferris and Katie Florence were both named to the all-region second team.
Lyons was also named Wednesday to the WomensLax.com All-America Team.
Sparked by a second half offensive surge, the No. 16 UMass women's lacrosse team pushed past Canisius on Saturday to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Minutewomen won the NCAA Play-In Game thanks to five points (3 goals, 2 assists) from both Jackie Lyons and Katie Ferris. Ferris now holds the all-time UMass single-season goal record with 55 as the win was UMass' 10th straight.

Ali Houlis of the University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team wears a red headband that holds a lifetime's worth of tragedy, awareness, and hope.
It never fades in the wash, it never comes untied. It's the only one she ever bought in a store, the others she had always made, patched them together, but they always faded in the wash, and became untied in the rain.
It's a good luck piece now, one that has worked fabulously all the way through the Minutewomen's 7-0 undefeated mark in Atlantic-10 play and 14-2 overall record this season. But only half of the red headband is being worn.
