The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that forward Chase Langerapp has signed with the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The Minutemen are currently in Boston and will have their normal pregame skate this morning as they prepare for tonight's opening game of the Hockey East Quarterfinals against No. 2 and top-seeded Boston College at Conte Forum.

Seniors Chase Langeraap and Doug Kublin will be the player guests on tonight's Hockey Radio Show at the Hangar. Be sure to join us to have some wings and talk hockey or listen online. UMass will face Maine in a pair of home games on Friday and Saturday. Friday night will be Fan Appreciation night, while Saturday will be Senior Night and Big Y Night. Fans with a Big Y card can get a $6 general admission ticket.

After a back-and-forth flurry in the first 10 minutes on Saturday night, Northeastern managed to tie the game in the 2nd period and neither side could score for the balance of regulation or overtime as the Minutemen settled for a 2-2 tie with the Huskies. Today's installment of Dick Baker's MassLive.com Hockey Blog takes a look at Chase Langeraap and Rocco Carzo's summer activities as well as an update on Casey Wellman as NHL Preseason Camp continues. Over the summer break, Langeraap worked for the UMass Athletic Facilities & Operations crew. One of the projects he worked on was the rebuilding of the outfield wall at the softball complex. Carzo spent part of his off-season training with the Chicago Blackhawks at their Prospect Camp.

Dick Baker posted three new hockey blog entries yesterday on the UMass Hockey. His first covers the beginning of practice as the coaching staff can officially take the ice with the team today. The second entry looks at forward Chase Langeraap and how he has reported to camp in the best shape ever. Finally, he writes about freshman defenseman Adam Phillips and his sports lineage. Phillips' older brother Adam was a goalie for Notre Dame while his uncle Terry Andrysiak was a starting quarterback for the Irish under Lou Holtz.
