Jim Dietz is featured in the Boston Herald to preview Head of the Charles Weekend. Dietz will be rowing in the masters double sculls this weekend.
John Powers of the Boston Globe previews the Head of the Charles Regatta Weekend with a feature on decorated UMass rowing coach Jim Dietz. The Minutewomen will row alongside their famed coach this weekend at the prestigious regatta.
Ben Lambert of the
Daily Collegian has a wrap from the UMass rowing team's performance at last weekend's Knecht Cup. The Varsity 4+ took the gold medal in the Grand Final while the Second Varsity Eight finished third in its Grand Final.
"Some 30, 35 different colleges were entered [in the Varsity Four]," said Head Coach Jim Dietz. "The Second Varsity Eight rowed tremendously, I think that's pretty exciting racing."
The Minutewomen are off to the Atlantic 10 Championships tomorrow, which are scheduled to begin at 8 AM on the Cooper River.

Daily Collegian has a recap of the UMass rowing team's win over Colgate last weekend on the Connecticut River. The Minutewomen swept all three races against the Raiders, and will head to Camden, N.J. for the Knecht Cup this weekend.
"Despite the rough conditions, I thought both boats raced pretty well," said UMass coach Jim Dietz. "Normally, the Connecticut River is flat and very conducive to rowing. On Saturday, the wind was blowing big time and there were white caps, so it was very rough water."
The UMass Rowing team is featured as part of Row2K's Team HQ, which previews collegiate squads leading up to the beginning of the season. The Minutewomen will begin their quest for a 14th Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday with a scrimmage against the Coast Guard Academy. To view Row2K's feature,

The Atlantic 10 is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and will be highlighted the conference's memorable moments throughout 2011. In
Feature #11, the UMass Rowing team is mentioned for it's dominance of the A-10 after capturing their 12th straight conference crown.
"The Massachusetts women's rowing program has also grabbed the attention of many in the A-10. The Minutewomen, under the tutelage of legendary coach Jim Dietz, won its 12th straight Atlantic 10 Championship in 2007 -- the most consecutive A-10 crowns won by any team, in any sport. Dietz, who is in his 17th season at the helm, has guided his teams to 54 Atlantic 10 gold medals in 14 league championship events. He has been honored as the A-10 Coach of the Year seven times."
