Tom Layman of the Boston Herald has a story on center Matt Sparks and quarterback Blake Frohnapfel focusing on the team's return to a pro style offense and what that means for the exchange between the two. Both have been in offenses which are primarily shotgun formations, so the return to having the quarterback under center is a new wrinkle for the duo who are roommates. Frohnapfel says the two have even practiced snapping while hanging out in the living room after moving the couches around to make way.

Matt Vautour of the Daily Hampshire Gazette has a story on returning veteran center Matt Sparks who is a key figure in the Minutemen's transition to Mark Whipple's pro-style offense.

Dan Malone of the Springfield Republican has a story on how having a trio of coaches from Charley Molnar's staff - Ted Daisher, Dave Sollazzo, and Shane Waldron - has helped make Mark Whipple's transition smooth since he took over the hiring. The veteran trio are praised for their coaching ability, but it's also pointed out that the group has helped keep recruiting strong while also keeping relationships strong with the current players.

The UMass football offensive line is looking to fill the voids left by seniors Anthony Dima, David Osei, and Vincent Westcarr. Offensive line coach Shane Waldron and returning starters Matt Sparks and Tyrell Smith break down the unit's progression during spring practice following the Minutemen's workout on April 1.

Matt Stewart of the Sentinel & Enterprise has a story on Rob Blanchflower who is being held out of practice for the remainder of training camp due to injury. It is still possible for him to play in the Wisconsin game.

"I hope to perform greater than I did last year," Blanchflower said. "It was sort of a breakthrough season for me, but I know I can perform at the level of the Central Michigan game every week. Last year I wasn't consistent every week, and I'd like to be more consistent this year."

Bob McGovern of the Maroon Musket takes a look at the UMass tight ends and how the position has changed in terms of depth from last year - something that should help out the Minutemen on offense.
