Whipple talks about the excitement in the Western Mass community and among the players and staff as games will return to McGuirk Stadium this season as construction of the new press box and football performance center will be complete.

Matt Vautour also had a column last night covering the announcement of the UMass football kick-off times for the upcoming season. Every game with the exception of Boston College now has a start time. UMass will be on televisions five times so far as well.

"We are in a transitional period. Check out the new banners that have been hung outside McGuirk Alumni Stadium. They are a wonderful graphic look to beautify the stadium while paying tribute to the rich football history. If you have a chance drive by and check the banners out. There are 10 banners including these two featuring Kerry Taylor, Jeromy Miles, Rene Ingoglia and James Ihedigbo.
