Dan Malone has a second story on UMass football head coach Mark Whipple from his guest appearance on the SiriusXM show College Football Playbook on Wednesday afternoon. Whipple talks about the excitement in the Western Mass community and among the players and staff as games will return to McGuirk Stadium this season as construction of the new press box and football performance center will be complete.
Matt Vautour also had a column last night covering the announcement of the UMass football kick-off times for the upcoming season. Every game with the exception of Boston College now has a start time. UMass will be on televisions five times so far as well.

In the Springfield Republican, Ron Chimelis has a story on the upgrades to McGuirk Stadium and how UMass will return to play several games at McGuirk Stadium starting in 2014. "We are in a transitional period. By 2014, the plan is to have an upgraded campus facility that could host some games,'' Athletic Director John McCutcheon said.
