Christopher Martinez of the Daily Collegian has a recap of the fall season for the women's tennis team with a look at what the spring will bring. Head coach Judy Dixon says the fall allows the program to gauge where they are at technically and figure line-ups for the spring run leading up to the Atlantic 10 Championship.

Head coach Judy Dixon says expectations are high with the bulk of last year's roster returning from its Atlantic 10 runner-up finish last spring.

Judy Dixon talks about how special the group was and how the program has now set higher expectations for 2015-16 after the past season.

The Daily Hampshire Gazette led off its Weekend College Round-Up section with a recap of the UMass women's tennis team's hard-luck loss in the Atlantic 10 Championship match on Sunday afternoon. Down 3-0, it looked as if the Minutewomen were in the midst of a terrific come-back rally holding leads in the four remaining singles matches. An injury to senior Chanel Glasper, however, ended her match pre-maturely to give the fourth, and championship-winning, point to VCU.

Arthur Hayden of the Daily Collegian has a preview of the Atlantic 10 Tennis Championships and the momentum the Minutewomen have built going into postseason. Head coach Judy Dixon says the key to a good performance for UMass will be its play at doubles along with the team's overall depth in singles.

He focuses on the importance of Chanel Glasper's role as team captain and what Senior Day on Sunday meant to her. Head coach Judy Dixon said the team is confident heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament after the successful regular season.

(VCU) was obviously the best team there and we competed the best against them."

Overall, Saturday's match against the defending Atlantic 10 Champions, VCU, marks the 16th time since 1995 that UMass has advanced to the league semi-final match. The route to this year's semifinal was also significant in that the Minutewomen defeated Richmond for the first time ever in program history.

Hayden states that several nagging injuries have forced adjustments to the lineups throughout the season and came into play during the 4-3 loss at FDU last Thursday.

According to Hayden, it was an unorthodox route that led Podlofsky to UMass, but says that her goal from day one was to break the record.

"I have a lot of hope for us as we head into the last half of our season. We have now a team that believes that they can play with the best teams in the country...I'm still trying to figure out our doubles combinations...but I think our singles line-up is pretty well-established."

Greenwich Time has a nice feature story on tennis alum Lauren MacKay. After working at Stanford last year, MacKay was named head coach at Endicott College for both the men's and women's teams earlier this summer.
"I definitely feel very fortunate because I'm young and this is a great opportunity," said the 23-year-old MacKay. "Being the head coach of both programs is a big deal.

MacKay, a four-year player and captain as a senior for head coach Judy Dixon, played at UMass from 2005-09.
The Examiner also has a story on MacKay taking over as coach of the Gulls.
