Former Minutemen hoops stars Rashaun Freeman and Sean Carter have signed with a pair of professional teams in Europe.
Freeman will return to France and play for JSF Nanterre after spending the last two seasons in Belgium, Puerto Rico and Israel. Read about his signing at Euro Basket
Carter's professional career will begin in Hungary. The recent UMass grad will play for Factum Debrecen. The team is located in Debrecen, the second-largest city in the country behind Budapest, with a population of approximately 200,000. Former UMass basketball player Rashaun Freeman has signed a contract with Israeli pro team BC Habikaa. The former Minuteman center played last season in Belgium for VOO Verviers-Pepinster, averaging 15.9 and eight rebounds per game. He led the league in rebounding. At the conclusion of the season, Freeman played two games for Puerto Rican team Isabela in June.
"This is a player on the rise that fits the Israeli league," said Habikaa Assistant Coach Shay Sglovic, "He is very dominant and very mobile, and he would fit well with the players we currently have. This was really our goal."
