Tennis Readies For Three-Match Weekend

Massachusetts travels to Yale on Saturday, before hosting Lehigh and Siena for a Sunday doubleheader match.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis sets for three matches on the weekend, heading to Yale on Saturday, March 9, for a 1 p.m. contest at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Connecticut, before welcoming Lehigh and Siena to Amherst on Sunday, March 10. UMass takes on Lehigh at 11 a.m. and faces Siena at 4 p.m. on Sunday for the team's Food Drive and Donation match.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen split the weekend, 1-1, after downing Dartmouth last Saturday, 5-2, before falling 5-2, on Sunday to LIU.
At Dartmouth, Massachusetts secured the doubles point with wins at court No. 1 and No. 3. Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul took down Dartmouth's Lexi Dewire and Elizabeth Fahrmeier, 7-6(7) at No. 1 doubles, before duo Renata Farima and Mariana Campino won 6-3 over Ameliija Swaffer-Selff and Caroline Lemcke of Dartmouth at No. 3 doubles.
The Minutewomen continued their success into singles play, as Hack defeated Peyton Capuano, 6-3, 6-4, at court No. 1, to make it a 2-0 contest. Amelia Tye won 6-3, 6-1, over Dartmouth's Lemcke at No. 4 singles, while Campino downed Katie Weber of Dartmouth, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. Polina Akimova clinched a point for UMass with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 win against Fahrmeier at No. 6. The Big Green collected their two points with wins at courts No. 2 and No. 3.
Against LIU, the Sharks grabbed the doubles point at No. 2 and No. 3, before going on to finish out with singles victories at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. Two Minutewomen notched points for UMass, as Hack posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles and Jonglertrakul had a 6-2, 1-0 on court No. 3.
Scouting Yale
The Bulldogs are currently 9-4 overall on the season and are coming off a tight 4-3 loss against Arizona at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on February 24. Yale started off the year with a six-match win streak, before receiving its first loss. The Bulldogs went on to win three more, including a 4-3 triumph at Penn State on February 18.
Scouting Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks hold a 7-2 overall record heading into Sunday's match and are on a three-match win streak. After falling to Drexel in the season opener, Lehigh earned four consecutive triumphs. The team fell to Johns Hopkins, 4-3, but dominated Binghamton (7-0) and Seton Hall (4-0) in the next two matches, while most recently winning, 4-1, against Marist last Saturday.
Scouting Siena
The Saints are 1-6 overall on the year and are coming off two straight losses to Sacred Heart (5-2) and Bucknell (5-2). Siena's only win of the season came against Bryant, 4-3.
