Massachusetts Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honors

Eight Minutewomen lauded ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades, while the team received All-Academic Team honors.

AMHERST, Mass. – Eight members of the University of Massachusetts tennis team were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while the squad as a whole garnered ITA All-Academic Team honors of their combined academic success. Graduates Ella Faessler and Renata Farima, rising seniors Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye, rising juniors Owethu Makhanya and Martina Pavissich and rising sophomores Duru Baycan and Madara Markevica were among those that earned scholar-athlete accolades for the Minutewomen.

Massachusetts was one of 231 Division I women's tennis programs to receive the ITA All-Academic Team award, as the honor is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale). All varsity letterwinners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current 2025-26 academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year.
