Tennis Opens Atlantic 10 Conference Play At Davidson

The Minutewomen compete against the Wildcats on Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis heads to Davidson, North Carolina, on Thursday, March 21, for its first Atlantic 10 Conference match of the year against Davidson College. The match begins at 3 p.m. at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen fell, 6-1, to Brown in their only match last weekend. Mariana Campino picked up the lone point for UMass at No. 4 singles.
Brown grabbed the doubles point as the Bears earned wins at courts No. 1 and No. 2. Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander of Brown defeated partners Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Brown's Ali Benedetto and Addison Ahlstrom downed Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye, 6-0, at No. 2.
The Bears went on to win five of the six singles matches, with victories at courts No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6. Campino defeated Dani Ben-Abraham of Brown, 7-6(3), 6-3, at No. 4 singles.
Scouting Davidson
The Wildcats are 9-4 overall on the season, including a 1-1 A-10 Conference record. Davidson is currently on a four-match win streak and are coming off a 7-0 sweep against Lees-McRae last Sunday at home. Against A-10 foes, the Wildcats dropped a 5-2 match to VCU on the road earlier in the season, before taking down Duquesne at home, 5-2.
