The Minutewomen continue their roadtrip at UNC Greensboro on Saturday
DAVIDSON, N.C. – University Massachusetts tennis dropped a tight 4-3 decision to Davidson College on Thursday evening.
UMass started the match by notching the doubles point. The duo of Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye completed a 6-3 win over the Wildcats' Emma Heiderscheit and Olivia Hooper at No. 2 doubles. Mariana Campino and Renata Farima clinched the doubles point on court No. 3 by way of a 6-4 victory atop Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford of Davidson.
In singles play, two Minutewomen picked up wins before Davidson claimed the remaining four matches. On court No. 1, Danielle Hack triumphed over the Wildcats' Daniela Porges, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Hack's doubles partner, Thamonpan Jonglertrakul claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win of her own against Heiderscheit of Davidson at No. 2 singles.
The Wildcats' Kollock kickstarted her team's momentum, earning a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win over Ella Faessler on court No. 3, while her teammate, Kavya Patel added a 6-4, 6-0 match at No. 4 singles versus Campino. Davidson closed out their come-from-behind victory by way of Langford's 6-3, 7-5 win against Tye on court No. 6, and a three-set thriller at No. 6 singles that ultimately commenced in a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 prevail for the Wildcats' Ines Rati over Alexandra O'Brien.
