Sacred Heart, Brown Up Next For Massachusetts Tennis

The Minutewomen host Sacred Heart on Saturday, March 11 at 1 p.m., before traveling to Brown on Sunday, March 12 for an 11 a.m. match.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis welcomes Sacred Heart University to the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday, March 11, for a 1 p.m. match, before traveling to Providence, Rhode Island, to face the No. 42 ranked Brown University on Sunday, March 12, at Pizzitola Sports Center at 11 a.m.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts hosted a doubleheader match Saturday, February 25, with Holy Cross and Bryant visiting Amherst. The Minutewomen improved to 5-2 on the season, and picked up their 11th and 12th straight home wins, after defeating the Crusaders, 5-2, before downing the Bulldogs, 4-3.
Against Holy Cross, UMass grabbed the doubles point with wins at courts No. 2 and No. 1, to make it a 2-1 competition, as Holy Cross led with two default singles points. Anna Napadiy knotted up the match with a victory at No. 4 singles. Melisa Senli secured the next point at No. 2, before Mariya Krasakova earned a win at court No. 3 and Danielle Hack led at No. 1 singles.
Starting the match against Bryant down 2-0, due to two default singles points, the Bulldogs quickly notched the doubles point with a default point at court No. 3 and a win at No. 1, to lead 3-0. Krasakova and Hack got off to quick starts at No. 3 and No. 1 singles, respectively, to notch a point each for UMass. Senli finished next with a win at No. 2 to make it a 3-3 contest, before Napadiy clinched the match with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 victory at court No. 4.
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers head into Saturday's match with a 7-2 overall record, including 2-0 in the Northeast Conference, and are coming off a 4-3 loss against Fairfield on Thursday morning. Sacred Heart's lone loss was at Army, as the team fell 4-0.
Massachusetts and Sacred Heart have met five times, since meeting on April 3, 2011, with the UMass holding a 5-0 advantage. The two programs last met on April 12, 2015 on the road, as the Minutewomen swept the Pioneers, 7-0.
Scouting No. 42 Brown
The Bears defeated Tufts, 5-2, on Tuesday to improve their overall record to 8-3, heading into Sunday's match. Brown is ranked No. 42 in the latest ITA Rankings, and has only fallen to Boston College (4-3), then No. 39 ranked Denver (5-2) and then ranked No. 53 Colorado State (4-3) in close contests. The Bears currently have the No. 63 ranked doubles team in the nation with pair Addison Ahlstrom and Britany Lau.
Prior to Sunday's match, Brown will take on Bryant on Friday, March 10 at 4 p.m.
Weekly Accolades
After posting a 4-0 weekend, going 2-0 in both doubles and singles play, Senli was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week on February 7, before garnering the laurel on March 1 with a 3-1 overall performance, going 1-1 in doubles and 2-0 in singles.
Hack earned A-10 Player of the Week on March 1, marking the first weekly award of her career. She went 4-0 overall, including 2-0 in both doubles and singles competition.
