Nunez, Faessler Highlight MAC Postseason Awards

Nunez claims Coach of the Year, while Faessler garners Player of the Year.
AMHERST, Mass. – Head Coach Juancarlos Nunez was named the Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year, while senior Ella Faessler tabbed MAC Player of the Year to headline a total of four postseason awards for the University of Massachusetts tennis team, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Nunez collects the Coach of the Year honor for the second time in his career, last winning the honor during the 2024 season. Faessler earns her respective accolade for the first time in her career and the fourth Minutewomen to garner conference Player of the Year, with the last time coming in 2024 when Danielle Hack lauded the award.
In addition, Faessler was also named to the All-MAC First Team, picking up her third All-Conference honor in as many years. Junior Amelia Tye landed on the All-MAC Second Team earning the honor for the second straight year.
Nunez led the team to a 16-4 season overall, including a 7-1 mark in conference play. Through eight completed seasons at the helm, Nunez owns a 104-53 overall record, while holding a 36-6 record in conference action, which includes a 29-5 record in the Atlantic 10. With making his first appearance in the MAC Championships in the coming days, overall Nunez has made seven conference championships, including six in the A-10.
Faessler capped off the regular season with a 13-4 singles record, including 10-3 at the No. 1 position, with a 7-1 record in the MAC. The Hilton Head, South Carolina, native, finished with a doubles record of 12-5, primarily competing at No. 1 with teammate Renata Farima.
Tye went 11-7 overall in singles play with a 7-1 record in the MAC to close out the regular season. The London, England, native, competed primarily at the No. 2 slot, going 8-5, while going 3-2 after spending some time at court No. 1. Partnering with Amanda de Oliveira at No. 2 doubles, the duo went 8-7 overall and 1-4 in the MAC.
