Massachusetts Tennis Earns Third Straight Victory Over Eastern Michigan, 6-1

UMass picked up its second consecutive MAC win.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis earned its third consecutive victory and second straight Mid-American Conference win after defeating Eastern Michigan University, 6-1, on Sunday morning at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
The Minutewomen improved to 10-3 on the season and 2-0 in MAC play, while the Eagles move to 9-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Massachusetts received the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich downed Iva Daneva and Regina Mendez Carreño of Eastern Michigan, 6-1, at court No. 3, before partners Ella Faessler and Renata Farima won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles over Eastern Michigan's Kseniia Saenko and Cylova Zuleyka Hukmasabiyya.
The duo of Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye led 4-1 over their opponents at the No. 2 slot before doubles came to an end.
In singles action, Tye finished with a quick 6-0, 6-0, victory over Pehal Kharadkar of Eastern Michigan at court No. 2, before Fiona Ao took down Eastern Michigan's Matilde Parreira, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 4 position. The Eagles grabbed a point as Sabrina Tolstova won 7-6(2), 6-1, over Pavissich at court No. 3, but Faessler earned a three-set triumph of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 over Zuleyka Hukmasabiyya of Eastern Michigan at No. 1 singles.
Markevica defeated Mendez Carreño of Eastern Michigan, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 5 spot, as Farima secured the final point for the Minutewomen with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Saenko at court No. 6.
The Minutewomen travel to Oxford, Ohio, on Friday, March 20, to face Miami (OH) at 12 p.m., before heading to Muncie, Indiana, to take on Ball State on Sunday, March 22 at 11 a.m.
