UMass Falls To Ohio In Final Game Of Weekend, 2-0

The Minutewomen finished with five hits while Jessie DiPasquale struck out seven.
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Massachusetts softball team fell to Ohio in the final game of the Bulldog Classic on Sunday morning, 2-0. The Minutewomen outhit the Bobcats five to four with five different UMass batters recording base hits.

Jessie DiPasquale tossed all six innings for the Minutewomen, striking out seven while allowing four hits with four walks. DiPasquale and the UMass defense kept Ohio off the board the first three innings before a leadoff walk followed by a single led to a Tori Walker two-RBI single to put the Bobcats ahead 2-0.

Bella Pantoja opened the game with a base hit before Chloe Whittier added a two-out single to left field in the first inning. Pantoja reached on an error in the fifth inning while Payge Suggs followed with a single to put a pair on with two outs.

Kristina Day added a two-out single in the top half of the seventh inning and finished her weekend with a .417 batting average over five games.

The Minutewomen resume play on Friday at 9 a.m. against Stony Brook in the first of five games in three days in Tampa, Fla.
