Softball Earns Five On Academic All-MAC Team

AMHERST, Mass. – Five members of the University of Massachusetts softball team earned Academic All-MAC honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Katharine Heslin, Brooke Musch, Hannah Streicher, Odyssey Torres and Lily Woodworth were selected for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests scheduled or completed in the particular sport. First-year students and ANY transfer in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Heslin, a Lake Hopatcong, N.J. native, is earning her bachelor's degree in Finance. Heslin appeared in 26 games for the Minutewomen, recording 21 starts. She recorded eight hits, nine RBI's, six walks, eight total bases and four runs in 71 plate appearances, while also registering 61 putouts on the season between catcher and first base with no errors for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
Musch, a Camden, N.Y. native, is working on her degree in Kinesiology. Musch appeared in and started all 49 games of the season in centerfield for the Minutewomen, totaling 44 hits, five doubles, five triples, one homerun, 18 RBI's, 19 walks, 30 runs scored and 62 total bases. Musch also swiped 23 bases on 26 attempts, ranking tenth-most in single season program history and held a totaled 87 putouts, four assists and one error for a .989 fielding percentage in center field, including a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in conference play.
Streicher, a Sparta, N.J. native, is earning her degree in Education. Streicher made 31 appearances in the circle for the Minutewomen, starting in 25. She posted an 11-15 record with an ERA of 3.39 in 177.1 innings pitched and 21 complete games, recording 91 strikeouts, 28 of which were looking. Streicher Allowed three earned runs or less in 23 games and recorded her first career shutout against Western Michigan (4/4). For her play this season named to MAC All-Conference Second Team.
Torres, a Los Angeles, Calif. native, is earning her degree in Psychology. Torres appeared and started in 46 games at shortstop totaled 53 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, three homeruns, 25 runs batted in, 22 walks and seven stolen bases with a slash line of .414/.625/.503. Torres was named MAC Player of the Week twice (2/17; 3/24), as well as being named to MAC All-Conference First Team and the NFCA Northeast All-Region Second Team.
Lily Woodworth, a Glastonbury, Conn. native is earning her degree in Journalism. Woodworth played and started in all 49 games of the season at second base, totaling 32 hits, eight doubles, 10 RBI's and 18 runs scored. She also registered 82 putouts and 79 assists for a .958 fielding percentage. Woodworth was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
