Softball Heads to Tampa For Five Games This Weekend

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team concludes its non-conference tournament slate this weekend with five games in Tampa, Fla. The Minutewomen begin the weekend on Friday at 9 a.m. with a doubleheader against Stony Brook and Army.

Minutewomen By The Numbers
Sophomore Bella Pantoja leads UMass in hits (16), runs (9), total bases (25), and extra base hits (6) while posting a .356 batting average through 14 games this year. Fellow sophomore Payge Suggs is batting .379 in 11 games to lead the Minutewomen while Chloe Whittier has added a .333 average to go along with a team-best .564 slugging-percentage. In the circle, Jessie DiPasquale has tossed a team-leading 43.2 innings with 40 strikeouts.

A-10 Play On The Horizon
Atlantic 10 play begins a week from Saturday for the Minutewomen when they head to Kingston, R.I. for a three-game series against Rhode Island. UMass continues league play on the road at Saint Louis the following weekend on March 26-27 before hosting Fordham at Sortino Field on April 2-3. The Minutewomen are scheduled to play their home opener on March 23 at 3 p.m. against Boston College in non-conference action.
