May 14, 2026 | Softball
AMHERST, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts junior shortstop Odyssey Torres was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Second Team, announced by the NFCA on Thursday. Torres becomes the 114th Minutewomen to be named to an All-Region team, and the first since Kaycee Carbone earned third-team honors in 2019.
Torres had a breakout year in her first season competing in the MAC, setting career highs in nearly every hitting category. Torres totaled 53 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, three homeruns, 25 runs batted in, 22 walks, and seven stolen bases, with a slash line of .414/.625/.503 in 46 games. In conference, Torres was one of the best hitters in the MAC, hitting .403 with 31 hits, five doubles and two homeruns across 27 games.
The Los Angeles native registered at least one hit in 20 games, and multiple hits in nine games. Torres was named MAC Player of the Week twice, picking up the first honor after hitting .600 at the plate over a five-game span, helping lead the Minutewomen to four consecutive victories; and the second coming following a series against Toledo, in which Torres hit two homeruns in one game, including a grand slam and a walk off blast, and following that performance up with a 3-3 game with a double.
Individually, Torres .414 season batting average puts her at sixth-best in single season program history, and her .503 on base percentage ties fifth-best in single season history. For her play, Torres becomes the first All-MAC First Team member in program history, and the first Minutewomen to recieve All-Confernce First Team honors since Erin Stacevicz and Kaitlyn Stavinoha in 2019.
