AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts softball played Samford on the final day of the Bulldog Slamboree, falling 9-5.
Junior Meg Colleran started in the circle and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and eight runs. Freshman Maddie Sadler replaced Colleran in the top of the sixth. Later in the inning, Sadler was replaced by freshman Quinn Breidenbach. Breidenbach pitched 1.2 innings and allowed one run.
UMass was able to tie the game, 5-5, in the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, The Bulldogs scored four runs to go ahead 9-5.
Sophomore Erin Stacevicz went one-for-five and scored two runs as freshman Nicole Imhof went two-for-two while picking up one RBI and scoring one run. Senior Ashton Wince and sophomore Melissa Garcia were also credited with runs for the Minutewomen.
