Tennis Matches Up With UConn On Wednesday

The Minutewomen and Huskies face off in Manchester, Connecticut, on Wednesday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis will play a midweek match against the UConn Huskies on Wednesday, April 9, at 1 p.m. in Manchester, Connecticut.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen improved to 9-6 overall, after downing Bryant, 5-2, last Friday in the Senior Day match.
Massachusetts clinched the doubles point with victories on courts No. 2 and 3. After Mariana Campino and Belle Jonglertrakul dropped a 6-4 match at No. 1, Amelia Tye and Ella Faessler rallied to garner a 6-0 win at No. 2. Martina Pavissich and Owethu Makhanya notched the doubles point for UMass with a 6-4 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
Campino continued the momentum in singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win at court No. 1. Jonglertrakul then collected a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles, before Pavissich claimed a 6-2, 7-6(3) triumph at No. 5. Tye clinched the match for the Minutewomen defeating her opponent, 7-6(3), 6-2, at court No. 4.
Scouting UConn
The UConn Huskies sit at 14-3 overall on the year and are coming off a 4-3 loss to Villanova on Sunday.
Weekly Honors
Faessler collected the first Atlantic 10 weekly award of the year for the Minutewomen on February 4. The junior tabbed the A-10 Player of the Week accolade, which marked the first weekly honor of her career. On the week, Faessler went 2-0 in singles competition and 1-0 in doubles play.

Massachusetts concludes the regular season with a road trip to Kingston, Rhode Island, on Saturday, April 19, for a 1 p.m. match.
