Minutewomen Swept by Trojans on Saturday

TROY, Ala. -- Massachusetts (5-14) fell short in the second doubleheader of the weekends against Troy (16-9) on Saturday.
The Minutewomen offense showed stark improvement on Saturday, with six players recording hits in game three of the series. However, the Trojans were able to halt any momentum UMass built wth their bats, leaving five runners on base. Massachusetts was unable to overcome the high-powered offense Troy throughout the weekend, surrendering seven runs.
Game four saw the Minutewomen's offense come alive in the later innings, with Sophia Thormeyer tallying an RBI single in the third to score Brooke Musch and make it a one-run game. Odyssey Torres followed up with a two-run home run, tying the game with her first-career homer. Sarah Keagy would take the lead for Massachusetts in the fifth inning, singling to bring home Thormeyer. UMass added on three more runs in the top of the fifth to take a 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the frame. The Trojans offense would hit an unstoppable groove in their final outing of the series, closing out the game 15-7.
