AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts softball team (5-14) travels to Philadelphia, PA. for a three-game series against the Hawks (8-12) from Mar. 15 to Mar. 16. The first game of Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's matchup is slated to start at Noon. Action will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts was swept in a 4-game series against Troy in last weekend. The Minutewomen lost 15-7 in their last game of the series, with Odyssey Torres leading the UMass offense with two runs and RBI singles. The Minutewomen tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning, and earned a 7-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Troy responded in the bottom of the fifth, scoring 12 runs and regaining the lead.
Scouting the Field
The Hawks are coming off a 2-6 loss against Deleware on Wednesday. Saint Joseph's last win was a 3-1 win against UNLV last Saturday in Phoenix, Ariz. In the previous tournament, Saint Joseph's defeated Harvard 9-0 in their fourth game of the Mizuno Showdown, but fell to Harvard in their first game, in addition to North Carolina, Kent State, and Maryland. SJU's offense is batting .234 on the season, tallying nine home runs, 57 RBIs, and 70 total runs scored. The Hawks pitching staff posts a collective 5.04 ERA, striking out 58 batters thus far in the 2025 campaign.
