AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts softball team (5-18) returns home for the first time this season, hosting George Washington (16-9) in a three-game series from Mar. 22-23. The first game of Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's matchup is slated to start at Noon. Action will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts was unable to get back into the win column on Wednesday, dropping a 3-1 decision to UMass Lowell on the road. Both sides struggled to find a rhythm offensively, combining for a total of six hits in the first five frames. Julianne Bolton pitched 5.2 innings for the Minutewomen, striking out six batters while surrendering two earned runs. Riain Keefe, Sophia Thormeyer, Riley Kairer, Ella Stevinson and Lily Woodworth each tallied base hits for UMass.

The Revolutionaries are coming off their first loss in eight games, dropping a 1-0 decision to Harvard on Wednesday. George Washington swept its conference series opener, claiming all three games against St. Bonaventure by a composite score of 31-2. The GW bats are rolling to start 2025, batting an impressive .310 as a team with 192 hits and 147 runs on the young campaign. The Revolutionaries' pitching staff boast seven complete game shutouts on the year, compiling 149 strikeouts across 162 innings while holsing opposing offenses to a .270 batting average.
