Faessler Collects First Career A-10 Player Of The Week Honor

Ella Faessler receives first A-10 weekly award for the Minutewomen this season.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Ella Faessler tabbed the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the conference. The weekly honor marks the first of the season for Massachusetts and the first of Faessler's career.
On a 2-0 weekend for the Minutewomen, Faessler went 2-0 in singles competition and 1-0 in doubles play. Faessler clinched the match point against Holy Cross with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at court No. 1. Against Fairfield, she defeated her opponent, 6-0, 6-7 (10-8) at No. 2 singles.
Faessler and partner Amelia Tye grabbed the first point in doubles against Holy Cross with a 6-0 victory at court No. 1. The duo was locked in a 4-4 tie with Fairfield, before the match went unfinished at No. 1.
Massachusetts has a week off to prepare for another weekend at home to host Army on Saturday, February 15 and St. John's on Sunday, February 16. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Bay Road Tennis Center.
