Minutewomen Drop Final Midweek To Merrimack In Extras

AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts (16-32, 12-11 A-10) dropped it's final midweek matchup of the season with a 7-2 loss to Merrimack (19-21) in extra-innings on Wednesday afternoon at Sortino Field.

Massachusetts recorded seven hits on the afternoon, tying the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth but failed to claim the victory in extra frames. Seniors Chloe Whittier and Bella Pantoja continued to power the Minutewomen offense from the top of the lineup, each record two hits on the afternoon. Natalee Horton earned her 15th start of the season, striking out six across 3.0 innings in the circle. Freshman Hannah Streicher came on in relief, pitching well despire receiving the loss. Streicher struck out three while allowing just one run in 4.0 innings of work.
