Minutewomen Fall In Narrow Loss To UConn

AMHERST, MASS. -- Massachusetts (12-27, 8-7 A-10) dropped a narrow 5-3 game to regional rival UConn (23-19) on Wednesday afternoon at Sortino Field.
Massachusetts jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a Grace Cadden solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. The Minutewomen however, were unable to withstand the Huskies comeback efforts surrendering a pair of two-run innings to the UConn squad in the defeat. Senior Abby Packard also got in on the action, hitting her sixth career home run with a two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior Julianne Bolton earned her 18th career start, totaling three strikeouts over 5.1 innings before giving way to Natalee Horton in relief.
