Minutewomen Close Series With 5-4 Victory Over Saint Louis

SAINT LOUIS, MO. -- Massachusetts (5-17, 1-2 A-10) capped its Atlantic 10 opening series with a 5-4 victory over Saint Louis (14-9, 2-1) on Sunday afternoon at Biliken Sports Center.
 
Junior Julianne Bolton earned her fourth win of the season from the circle, allowing just six hits over five innings. Junior Lydia Castro powered the Minutewomen offense, blasting a bases-clearing grand slam in the top of the third inning. The home run marks the first grand slam of Castro's career and the first of the season for the Minutewomen. Senior Bella Pantoja led Massachusetts with two hits on the afternoon, also driving in an RBI in the top of the fifth. The five-run third inning marked the only runs of the game for Massachusetts, giving them just enough insurance to hold onto the win as the Bilikens made a late inning comeback attempt.
