AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team is set to welcome Loyola Chicago for the second home conference series of the season.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts fell to the UConn Huskies by a score of 5 to 0 on Wednesday night. Jules Shields, Giana Wameling, and Bella Pantoja each recorded a hit on the evening, all singles. Natalee Horton threw 6.0 innings, recording four strikeouts and allowing four earned runs.
Shields Tabbed Student-Athlete Of The Week
Jules Shields picked up a UMass Student-Athlete of the Week accolade this week for her 5 RBI performance against BC last Wednesday. Her three RBI home run and two RBI doubles led to a career night for the senior, lifting the Minutewomen over BC, 6 to 5.
Scouting The Ramblers
The Loyola Ramblers are currently 12-17 on the season and 6-3 in the A-10. Amelia Thomas leads the Ramblers at the plate with a .338 average, followed by Sydney Barnett (.318) and Tori Boysen (.300). Thomas also leads the squad in hits (13) while Barnett leads the team in RBIs (13). Madison Ebeling has the most home runs this season with two. In the circle, Peyton Pepkowski has posted a 2.69 ERA in 86.0 innings pitched, recording 86 strikeouts and allowing 33 earned runs. Andie Broniewicz has a 2.84 ERA in 74.0 innings pitched, allowing 30 earned runs and recording 30 strikeouts.
Looking Ahead
The Marist Red Foxes will visit Amherst for a midweek double header on Wednesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. before Saint Bonaventure comes to town for a three-game series on Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16.
