Massachusetts Softball Bested By Fordham Twice In Saturday Doubleheader

BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Massachusetts softball team dropped both contests in their doubleheader against Fordham on Saturday by scores of 4-0 and 2-0. The Minutewomen are now 14-26 (5-11) , while the Rams are now 16-24 (7-9 A-10).
GAME ONE - Fordham 4, UMass 0
Fordham started the game with a three-score lead after the first inning off two RBI doubles and an RBI single. The final tally of the contest came in the second inning, when the Rams hit an RBI single to secure the victory.
UMass logged four singles in this contest, recorded by Giana Wameling, Jules Shields, Abby Lamson, and Olivia Packard.
Natalee Horton began the game in the circle, throwing 1.0 innings, in which she allowed three earned runs and struck out one batter before Julianne Bolton entered, striking out two batters and allowing one earned run before Jenna Bradley relieved her. Bradley allowed just two hits and struck out four batters in 3.0 innings of work.
GAME TWO - Fordham 2, UMass 0
The Rams kicked off scoring once more, logging both runs off sacrifice flies. The first came in the first inning, while the second came in the third.
Jessie DiPasquale began the game in the circle, logging a strikeout and allowing one earned run in 2.0 innings of work. Horton then relieved her in the third inning, working for 1.0 inning and logging a strikeout and allowing an earned run before Bolton entered. Bolton logged the remaining 3.0 innings, allowing four hits and recording five strikeouts.
The Minutewomen will wrap up the series tomorrow, Sunday, April 23 at Fordham with first pitch set for 12 p.m. at Bahoshy Field.
