DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Massachusetts softball team wrapped up their three-game series against the Dayton Flyers on Sunday morning, eking out a 1-0 victory. The Minutewomen improve to 8-17 (1-5 A-10) on the season while the Flyers now sit at 15-11 (2-1 A-10).
Emily Whelan hit an RBI double to open the scoring by plating Bella Pantoja at the top of the second. This proved to be the lone run of the contest.
Natalee Horton got the nod in the circle, throwing 12 strikeouts and only allowing three hits in all 7.0 innings of the complete game shutout.
The Minutewomen will head to Boston for one against Boston College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 before opening up home play on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 against Saint Louis.
