AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team will open up conference play this weekend as they take on the St. Joseph's Hawks at 3 p.m. in Philadelphia.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts won two of four contests this past weekend at the Purple-Gold Invitational, beating both East Carolina and Norfolk State. Against East Carolina, Abby Packard recorded 2 RBIs to guide Massachusetts over the Pirates, 4 to 3. Jessie DiPasquale threw all 7.0 innings in the circle and recorded five strikeouts to secure the win. UMass then went on to run rule Norfolk State by a score of 17 to 7. Chloe Whittier and Jules Shields each recorded 4 RBIs in the contest, while Grace Cadden hit a 2 RBI home run.
Scouting The Hawks
St. Joseph's sits at 7-11 on the season and are currently on a three-game win streak, having posted two wins against Radford and one against Coppin State. Kaelin Cash leads the squad with a .391 batting average 15 RBIs, 7 home runs, and an .870 slugging percentage. Madison Fife has posted a .317 average at the plate, 11 RBIs, 3 home runs, and a .561 slugging percentage. In the circle, Taylor Trowbridge has a 2.52 ERA in 33.1 innings, allowing just 25 hits.
