AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team begins its 2023 campaign this weekend with four games in three days at the Black and Gold Classic in Orlando, Fla. The Minutewomen begin action tomorrow at 4 p.m. against UCF and continue action on Saturday against Georgia (9:30 a.m.) and Boise State (12 p.m.) before wrapping up on Sunday against Ohio State at 11 a.m.
The Squad
The Minutewomen return 17 players from last season and welcome in three freshman to the roster for 2023. Bella Pantoja returns for her junior season after recording a .306 average at the plate last season, a team-high for the Minutewomen. Pantoja also led the squad in OPS (.753), runs (31), hits (53), and doubles (7). Jessie DiPasquale appeared in 27 games in the circle a season ago with 22 starts, recording a 3.42 ERA and 120 strikeouts. Fellow pitcher Julianne Bolton recorded 97 strikeouts in 25 appearances, earning her an Atlantic-10 All-Rookie team selection. Grace Cadden earned herself Atlantic 10 All-Championship honors last season thanks to her .800 average at the plate on 4-of-5 and a home run in two games for the Minutewomen.

Preseason Tournament Schedule
The Minutewomen will head to Charleston, S.C. for the Charleston Southern tournament on Feb. 17 to 19, where they will see action against Providence, Charleston Southern, and North Dakota over the course of five games.
