AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team returns to action on Friday, Feb. 17 as the squad heads to Charleston Southern for the CSU Buc Up Tournament. The Minutewomen will see action against Charleston Southern and North Dakota two times, as well as Providence for one game.

Last Time Out
The Minutewomen opened up the 2023 season last weekend at the Black and Gold Classic at UCF. The Minutewomen went 0-5 on the weekend, capping the tournament off with a narrow defeat by RV Ohio State. Sarah Keagy currently leads the squad with her .444 batting average and team-high four base hits. Keagy also recorded the first run of the season for the Minutewomen, reaching home off a wild pitch against UCF.

In The Circle
Julianne Bolton currently leads the Massachusetts pitchers after the first five games with a 7.00 ERA in eleven innings pitched. Jessie DiPasquale has a pitching squad-leading eight strike outs in her 8.2 innings of work. Freshman Natalee Horton saw the circle this weekend for the first time as a Minutewoman, working for 3.1 innings and recording two strike outs against Boise State on Saturday.

By The Numbers
This weekend is the first time that Massachusetts softball has gone up against North Dakota and Charleston Southern. UMass is 30-2 over Providence all-time. The last time the Minutewomen faced the Friars was in 2019, when Massachusetts was victorious by a score of 5-4.

Looking Ahead
The Minutewomen will head further south from March 3 through 5 as they compete in the Dugout Club Classic at Florida State. Massachusetts will then cap off tournament play at the Purple-Gold Invitational at East Carolina University from March 10 through 12.
