ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Massachusetts softball team wrapped up action at the Black and Gold Classic on Sunday afternoon with a loss against RV Ohio State. The Minutewomen fall to 0-4 on the season, while Ohio State betters its record to 2-2.
Julianne Bolton started the game off strong in the circle, recording a strikeout to end the first inning. She threw for all six innings in the contest, striking four batters out and allowing one earned run and one extra base hit.
The Buckeyes took the lead in the bottom of the second inning, with Taylor Pack scoring the only run of the game off a wild pitch with the bases loaded. The Minutewomen recorded four base hits on the day, with one apiece being credited to Bella Pantoja, Chloe Whittier, Sarah Keagy, and Abby Lamson.
The Minutewomen return to action next weekend as they head to the Charleston Southern Tournament from Friday, Feb. 17 to Sunday, Feb. 19 for five games in Charleston, S.C.
