Minutewomen Fall To Billikens In Series Finale, 2-1

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Massachusetts softball team fell to Saint Louis in the series finale Sunday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Complex, 2-1. The Minutewomen return home to Sortino Field for their next six games, beginning with a doubleheader Wednesday at 1 p.m. against Maine before hosting Fordham in the Atlantic 10 home opener over the weekend.
Jessie DiPasquale tossed the first four innings for the Minutewomen before Julianne Bolton entered in relief in the fifth inning. DiPasquale finished with three strikeouts and a walk with one earned run allowed while Bolton surrendered just one hit with two strikeouts in two innings of work.
Both of Saint Louis' runs came by way of solo home runs, first in the bottom of the third inning with a Gabbie Kowalik one-out home run to left field to make it 1-0. The Billikens' second solo homer came in the fifth inning after the Minutewomen tied at 1-1 on a Natalie Sullivan home run.
UMass tied things up in the top half of the fifth inning on a Bella Pantoja RBI single through the left side. Jules Shields and Kristina Day each walked to set up an Abby Packard sacrifice bunt that moved two into scoring position before Pantoja's RBI base hit.
Kendra Allen added two walks as she finished the series with a .571 batting average and a .727 on-base percentage to lead all Minutewomen.
