AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team resumes Atlantic 10 play this weekend with a three-game series on the road at Saint Louis. All three games between the Minutewomen and Billikens will be streamed on ESPN+ with the series opening on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. ET.
UMass Leaders
Payge Suggs leads the Minutewomen at the plate with a .362 average to go along with a tied for the team lead in runs with 15. Bella Pantoja is tied with Suggs in runs and owns a team-leading 24 hits and 33 total bases with a .329 average at the dish. Chloe Whittier has driven in a team-best 15 runs while compiling 32 bases with a .478 slugging-percentage. In the circle, Jessie DiPasquale has thrown 63.0 innings and struck out 49 batters to lead all UMass pitchers while Julianne Bolton has added 36.0 innings and 28 strikeouts.
Recent Results
UMass fell to Boston College on Wednesday in the home opener after picking up a doubleheader sweep at Rhode Island on Sunday in the first Atlantic 10 series of the season. The Minutewomen took the opening game of the URI series 8-7 in 10 innings behind an Abby Lamson RBI single to bring in Payge Suggs for the game-winning run. In game two, the Minutewomen jumped out to a 7-0 lead behind a five-run fifth inning in which Jules Shields capped off the frame with a two-RBI base hit en route to an 8-2 win. Shields and Lamson both finished with four hits in the doubleheader to pace the UMass offense while Julianne Bolton went the distance in game two, allowing no earned runs with four strikeouts.
The Schedule Ahead
The Minutewomen return home following the weekend series for their next six games beginning with a midweek doubleheader against Maine on Wednesday at 1 p.m. UMass hosts Fordham in the first league series at Sortino Field on April 2-3 before wrapping up the homestand with a midweek matchup against UConn on April 6 at 4 p.m.
