AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts softball team hosts Boston College at Sortino Field tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the home opener for the Minutewomen. The matchup tomorrow can be streamed on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Minutewomen picked up a doubleheader sweep at Rhode Island on Sunday in the first Atlantic 10 series of the season. UMass took the opening game of the series 8-7 in 10 innings behind an Abby Lamson RBI single to bring in Payge Suggs for the game-winning run. In game two, the Minutewomen jumped out to a 7-0 lead behind a five-run fifth inning in which Jules Shields capped off the frame with a two-RBI base hit en route to an 8-2 win. Shields and Lamson both finished with four hits in the doubleheader to pace the UMass offense while Julianne Bolton went the distance in game two, allowing no earned runs with four strikeouts.

UMass Leaders
Payge Suggs leads the Minutewomen in batting average on the year with a .370 clip while Bella Pantoja ranks second on the team in average with .343 and owns team-leading marks in hits (24), doubles (4), and total bases (33). Chloe Whittier has driven in a team-high 15 runs to go along with a .492 slugging-percentage and six extra base hits. In the circle, Jessie DiPasquale has thrown a team-leading 61.1 innings with 49 strikeouts while Julianne Bolton and Jenna Bradley have thrown 32.2 and 30.2 innings, respectively.

The Schedule Ahead
The Minutewomen resume Atlantic 10 play this weekend with a three-game series at Saint Louis before returning home to Sortino Field for their next six games. UMass hosts Maine for a midweek doubleheader at 1 p.m. on March 30 before welcoming Fordham to town on April 2-3 for the first A-10 home series of the season. The Minutewomen wrap up the six-game homestand against UConn on April 6.

The Opponent
Boston College comes to Amherst with a 13-11 record having most recently gone 1-2 in an ACC series at No. 2-ranked Florida State. The Eagles are led offensively by Ellie Mataya's .359 average while Mataya and Hannah Silke each have a team-leading 28 hits. In the circle, Peyton Schnackenberg owns a 2.55 ERA with a 6-1 record and 52 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched.
