Season Opener
The Minutemen head to Northeastern to take on the Huskies in the 2019 regular season opener at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The contest marks the first regular season matchup between the two sqauds since the 2009 season, where the Minutemen pulled out an 1-0 victory to take a 10-2-0 all-time series lead over the Huskies.
New Faces
UMass comes into the 2019 campaign with 14 newcomers on the roster after graduating 10 players from a season ago. Head Coach Fran O'Leary added nine freshmen, a transfer and a graduate student to the roster in early August to complete a class that features five from Massachusetts, two from Texas, one each from Virginia and Texas along with three internationals from Austria, Canada and Germany.
Home Opener
Monday marks the home opener for the Minutemen as they are set to host Sacred Heart in the first game at Rudd Field of the 2019 season. The all-time series against the Pioneers sits at 1-0-1 with UMass picking up a win in the first meeting in 2017 before playing to a 1-1 draw a season ago.
Home Field Advantage
The Minutemen have found success on their home grass in the last four seasons under O'Leary, racking up a 23-11-5 mark dating back to the 2015 campaign. UMass picked up four victories at Rudd Field a season ago, including a conference win over George Mason along with adding a shutout draw against a Clemson squad that was receiving votes in the top-25 poll.
#DriveFor5
The Minutemen look to become the first group in program history to qualify for its fifth consecutive Atlantic 10 Tournament after reaching the postseason the last four years for just the second time in program history.
