The Opponent
The Minutewomen meet up with the Blue Devils for 58th time in program history and the first since 2006. Central Connecticut is led offensively by freshman Alexa Milius, who leads the team in batting average with. a .364 clip in 20 games started while sophomore Sydney Bolan adds a .349 average with team-leading marks in slugging-percentage (.721) and on-base percentage (.462). In the circle, Carley Stoker has tossed a team-leading 83.0 innings with a 6-5 record.
Movin' On Up
Erin Stacevicz had nine hits over four games last week to move to 223 in her career, passing Whitney Mollica (2006-09, 222) and Emily Robustelli (2000-03, 222) for fourth on the all-time UMass career hit list. The senior added seven runs as well, moving up two spots to 10th on the career runs list with 131. She needs just two more to pass Holly Aprile (1989-92, 132) for ninth on the list.
Kiara Oliver officially took the top-spot on the UMass career saves list by picking up her fifth of the season in a game two win over La Salle, giving her seven in her career to break the tie with Brandice Balschmiter (2006-09). Oliver currently ranks 12th in career strikeouts with 281 and needs 21 more to pass Jenna Busa (2003-06, 301) for 11th all-time.
Keeping It 100
Kaitlyn Stavinoha drove in seven runs last week to eclipse the 100 RBI mark for her career, becoming the 20th player in program history to reach the mark. Stavinoha is 21 RBI away from reaching the top-10 in program history and needs four to move into 17th-most all-time. The senior also moved into the top-20 in career hits with 188 and needs five more to climb into 18th.
Stellar Sophomores
Sophomores Alyssa Lyon and Caroline Videtto led a UMass offense that hit .430 as a team last week with averages both over .600 at the plate with Lyon hitting .636 and Videtto hitting .615. Lyon drove in nine runs over four games, including four in both games two and three against La Salle to go along with two doubles and a triple. Videtto pitched in a career-high four hits at UConn on Wednesday, finishing the week with six runs scored, a double, a triple and a team-best .667 on-base percentage for the week.
Offensive Explosion
The Minutewomen nearly tied the program record for most hits in a single game with 20 in a 13-3 win at UConn to set the tone for a .430 team batting average at the plate for the week. Five hitters hit over .500 for the week, with Stavinoha a .600 average while Stacevicz and Kaycee Carbone hit .529 and .500 respectively. UMass reached double-digit hits as a team in games two and three against La Salle to give the Minutewomen 10 or more hits in five of their last six games with nine or more in seven straight.
