The Opponent
UMass swept La Salle last season in the home opener at Sortino Field in a series that was moved to Amherst from Philadelphia due to weather. Jackie Kelley finished off a 7-0 game one win with three hits before Erin Stacevicz and Kaitlyn Stavinoha each drove in three in an 11-3 game two win. Kaycee Carbone drove in three on a three-run shot in the third inning as the Minutewomen scored seven runs in the third inning to take the game 8-0 in five innings. The Explorers head into this year's matchup with a 7-19 overall record with a 1-5 mark in Atlantic 10 play and are led offensively by a pair of .301 hitters in Emily Conaway and Emma Schweigert.

Last Time Out
The Minutewomen just missed out on tying the program record for most hits in a single game as they finished with 20 in a 13-3 win at UConn on Wednesday. Stacevicz led the way with a career-high five hits with five RBI and a pair of triples, tying the UMass single game record for hits. Caroline Videtto added four hits in five trips to the plate, driving in a run while scoring twice as one of six Minutewomen that finished with multiple hits. Freshman Kenadee Rausch went the distance in the win, striking out five while allowing one earned run in seven innings of work.

Movin' On Up
Stacevicz needs four more hits to move into fourth on the UMass career hit list as she currently sits in sixth with 219 after picking up five at UConn on Wednesday, trailing Emily Robustelli (2000-03) and Whitney Mollica (2006-09) for fourth with 222 hits. The senior entered the top-10 on the career runs list after scoring three runs last time out and needs five to pass Holly Aprile (1989-92) for ninth.

Kiara Oliver enters the weekend trailing Kelli Arnold (2002-04, 273) for 12th on the UMass career strikeout list with 271 and needs 25 to pass Darlene Claffey (1990-93) for 10th-most.

Setting The Tone
Stavinoha leads the Minutewomen in eight offensive categories, including batting average (.411) and slugging percentage (.663) while driving in a team-leading 23 runs with 10 doubles and four triples. The senior has improved on her .292 average from a season ago and is batting .563 through four league games.

Approaching 100
Carbone and Stavinoha head into their final Sortino Field home opener within single-digit RBI of reaching 100 for their careers. Stavinoha currently sits at 95 while Carbone has 93 in her career as both seek to become the 20th and 21st players in program history to reach the milestone.
