Last Time Out
UMass' schedule three-game series on the road at Dayton was rained out over the weekend. The Minutewomen and the Flyers played just over two innings before play was suspended on Friday afternoon, with UMass taking a 4-3 lead after a Kendra Allen homer sparked a four-run inning for the Minutewomen. Play was called with two outs in the top of the third and play set to resume on Saturday morning before more rain in the area washed out the series.
The Opponent
Rhode Island enters the midweek matchup with the Minutewomen with a 14-25 overall record and a 3-10 mark in Atlantic 10 play after falling in a three-game series to Saint Louis last weekend on the road. Becca Rogers leads the Rams in the circle with a 7-7 record and a 2.62 ERA to go along with 83 strikeouts while Ari Castillo and Sami Villarreal both hold batting averages north of .350.
Atlantic 10 Leaders
The Minutewomen have a pair of batters in the top-10 in the league for batting average with Kaitlyn Stavinoha's .392 clip ranking fourth while Hannah Bunker ranks eighth with a .375 average. Stavinoha also ranks eighth in on-base percentage, ninth in slugging and 10th in RBI on the year. Bunker's team-leading .486 on-base percentage ranks third among all Atlantic 10 players with Kaycee Carbone right behind in fourth with a .470 on-base percentage.
Approaching 100
Carbone needs two more RBI to tie her sister Taylor Carbone for 20th all-time on the UMass career RBI list with 100 as she seeks to become the 21st player in program history to eclipse the 100 career RBI mark. Earlier in the season, Stavinoha became the 20th player to reach the mark and currently ranks 19th with 101 RBI.
Record Watch
Erin Stacevicz remains ninth on the UMass runs scored list with 133 in her career while sitting fourth on the hit list with 227 in her career. The senior outfielder trails Holly Aprile (1989-92, 235) for third most all-time in hits while needing 10 more runs to tie Quianna Diaz-Patterson for eighth. Stavinoha recently moved into the top-20 in career hits with 191, needing two more to move into 18th while former teammate Jena Cozza ranks 17th with 197 career hits.
