AMHERST, Mass.Madison Gimpl drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth-inning to propel the Minutewomen to a 4-3 game one win before an offensive outburst in game two led to a 14-1 win in five innings over George Washington at Sortino Field. After GW took a two-run lead in the top of the fifth, a pinch-hitting Kendra Allen picked up her first career home run to tie things up at 3-3. Allen's two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning sparked the UMass offense as the Minutewomen put the leadoff runner on in both the seventh and eighth innings.

Garcia led off the eighth with a single to center field followed by Danielle Ellis' one-out single to right center field for one of the freshman's three hits in the opening game of the series. Allen walked to load the bases with one down for Gimpl, who drove a single straight up the middle to bring in Shea Newsome for the game-winning run.

Consecutive one-out singles from Erin Stacevicz and Kailtyn Stavinoha opened a seven-run bottom of the first followed by a Kaycee Carbone walk that loaded up the bases for Garcia, who came through with a two-RBI single up the middle to put UMass ahead 2-0 early.

With two outs in the first, UMass tacked on five more runs beginning with a Caroline Videtto RBI single followed by Gimpl's bases clearing RBI double to right field that put UMass ahead 6-0. Gimpl finished game two with five RBI and a pair of hits. Hannah Bunker capped off the frame by bringing in one more with a RBI single of her own to bring the count to 7-0 after one played.
