A-10 Play Wraps at Dayton This Weekend

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts softball (25-20, 12-4 Atlantic 10) will wrap the Atlantic 10 regular season with a three-game series at Dayton (27-24, 11-9 A-10) this weekend. Game times are set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday with the series finale at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
A Look Back
UMass took a 6-4 (8) road win at Bryant on Tuesday. Junior Meg Colleran earned the win for the Minutewomen, her 16th of the season. Sophomore Kaycee Carbone went 3-for-4 at the plate, driving in four RBI. The Minutewomen took 2-of-3 games from La Salle April 29-30. Sophomore Melissa Garcia and senior Ashton Wince are riding four-game hitting streaks.
Atlantic 10 Roundup
Massachusetts leads the Atlantic 10 standings given the head-to-head tie breaker with Fordham. The Minutewomen rank No. 3 in team pitching with a 3.02 ERA and No. 2 in opposing batting average with a .236. The squad ranks No. 4 in overall batting average, sitting at .270.
Freshman Candace Denis leads the league in opposing batting average with a .210 ERA and sits at No. 3 in stolen bases with 23 (of 25 attempts). Colleran is second in total wins with 16.
The Flyers
Dayton fell to Fordham in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday April 29-30. The Flyer are 406 in their last 10 games dating back to April 19 but four of the losses were by one run. Senior Gabrielle Snyder paces the squad's offense with a .428 batting average. Junior Manda Cash is the team's primary hurler with a 2.30 ERA and a 14-10 record.
In The Circle
Colleran (16-10) with 23 and Denis (8-8) with 20 are splitting the starts for UMass. Colleran has an ERA of 2.59 and 17 complete games (156.2 total innings). Colleran has struck out a total of 97 batters this season with three shutouts. Denis has an ERA of 2.78 and 13 complete games (118.1 total innings), striking out 98 batters.
Cozza Comeback
Senior Jena Cozza paces the squad with a .438 batting average. She leads the team with four homeruns since her return to the lineup. She has 14 RBI and 13 runs scored to her credit. She's now reached base in six-straight games. UMass is 12-4 with Cozza in the lineup. She missed the first 29 games with an injury.
Sophomore Studs
Kaitlyn Stavinoha's .366 batting average is good for No. 2 on the team with 34 RBI and 22 runs scored. Kaycee Carbone sits at No. 4 with a batting average of .299 and her three home runs are No. 2 on the squad. Erin Stacevicz's .327 batting average is good for No. 3 on the team with 52 hits and 32 runs scored.
