Lehigh, Pacific Up Next For Softball

AMHERST, Mass. – Head coach Kristi Stefanoni and the University of Massachusetts softball team will play two games in Stockton, California on Wednesday, March 15. The Minutewomen (6-14) will play Lehigh at 1 p.m. PT/ 4 p.m. ET and Pacific at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET.
A Look Back
The Minutewomen posted a 3-2 record at the Aggie Invitational I, hosted by UC Davis, last weekend. On Friday, they fell 3-0 to San Jose State and 3-2 to UC Davis in a 10-inning battle. On Saturday, UMass defeated Seton Hall, 1-0, and UC Davis, 9-5. They continued the wins into Sunday, besting Iowa State, 6-4, in extra innings.
Atlantic 10 Roundup
As a squad, Massachusetts ranks No. 5 in the league in total hits with 120. Candace Denis' .177 opposing batting average and 1.60 ERA rank No. 1.
The Field
Lehigh University sits at 5-10 after posting a 1-4 outing at the Stanford Easton Classic. Christine Campbell has started five games for Lehigh with a record of 4-2 and an ERA of 1.85. At the plate, Rachel Timberman has a .357 batting average with 10 hits and six runs scored.
Pacific went 2-2 at the Oregon Tournament last weekend to sit 12-12 overall. In the circle, Hailey Reed leads the squad with a 0.94 ERA, pitching 37.0 innings and striking out 20 batters. Reed has the second highest batting average on the team with .292, picking up 21 hits and 10 runs. Sydney Lahners leads the team with 18 RBI and five homeruns.
Freshman On Fire
Freshman Candace Denis has started nine games, thrown eight complete contests and holds an ERA of 1.72. She's also batting .277 with 18 hits and 14 runs scored. On the season, she's 14-of-15 in stolen base attempts and bats .277 with 18 hits and 14 runs scored.
In The Circle
Denis paces the Minutewomen with 65.0 innings pitched and eight complete games. She holds an ERA of 1.72 in 10 appearances with nine games started. Junior Meg Colleran has started nine games for a total of 47.1 inning pitched and a 5.32 ERA.
Sophomore Studs
Sophomores Kaycee Carbone, Kaitlyn Stavinoha and Erin Stacevicz are off to a strong start for the Minutewomen. Stavinoha leads the team with a .362 batting average, 18 RBI and one home run. She has five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games.
Carbone has reached based in seven-straight games and had a five-game hitting streak in motion this season, both team leaders. She's No. 4 on the squad with a batting average of .259.
Stacevicz's .324 batting average is good for No. 2 on the team with 23 hits and 14 runs scored (team leader). She has six multi-hit games and put together a nine-game hitting streak to open the season (Feb. 17-March 4).
