Softball Falls to Saint Francis, No. 24 Baylor

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts softball fell to Saint Francis and No. 24 Baylor on day one of the Baylor Invitational. The Minutewomen (2-5) are set to face SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, at 12:30 p.m., on day two of the tournament.

Game One
UMass fell to Saint Francis 3-1, in its first game of the day on Friday. Freshman right-handed pitcher Candace Denis (0-1) pitched six innings, giving up three runs in the first and third innings. She allowed four hits over the outing.

UMass picked up six hits over 6 innings. Senior Tara Klee went one-for-three at the plate with a hit that scored Denis for the Minutewomen's only run. Denis also went two-for-three at the plate.

Game Two
The Minutewomen suffered an 8-0 loss to No. 24 Baylor in game two of the day. Junior Meg Colleran (1-3) started in the circle, throwing 5.2 innings. The Bears were able to put eight runs on the board coming in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

UMass picked up two hits during the contest. Tara Klee and Melissa Garcia produced two singles, both going one-for-two at the plate.
