Fall Tennis Season Concludes With Final Day At Big Green Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. - University of Massachusetts tennis completed its fall calendar of competition with the final day of the Big Green Invitational at Dartmouth College on Sunday. Ana Yrazusta won at No. 1 singles, but the Big Green took the remaining matches on their home courts.

Yrazusta challenged Kristina Mathis in the top singles match and controlled play en route to a 6-1, 6-3 victory. It cemented an undefeated run at the Big Green Invitational, in singles and doubles play.

With her unblemished record at the tournament (3-0), Yrazusta was named the top player in the 2017 Big Green Invitational. She and Moreno were tabbed the top doubles pairing as well, courtesy of their 3-0 record on the weekend.

The Minutewomen dropped tight matches at No. 2-4 singles as Ruth Crawford (No. 2), Janja Kovacevic (No. 3) and Laura Moreno (No. 4) were narrowly defeated. Crawford fell 6-3, 7-6 (6) while Kovacevic dropped a 7-5, 4-6 (10-6) match. Moreno won the first set over her foe, Chuyang Guan but Guan responded for the 4-6, 6-4 (10-8) victory.

Martina Bocchi, Jovana Bogicevic, Ashley Avery and Meghan Bernard also competed for the Minutewomen against Dartmouth.

Following the winter hiatus, the Minutewomen return to the courts on Sun., Jan. 21 against Providence.
