Minutewomen Claim Exhibition Win Over Providence

UMass tennis shows poise in preparation for season-opener at Boston College on Sat., Jan. 27
AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts tennis program challenged Providence College in an exhibition match at the Bay Road Tennis Club on Sunday and claimed a sweep-victory over the Friars. It marks the final tune-up for the Minutewomen before they begin their 2018 spring regular season with a dual match at Boston College on Sat., Jan. 27.

"Today was a great step in our preparation for the start of the spring season next weekend," Nunez said. "The Providence College players competed well and really pushed our players to bring out their best. That's exactly what we wanted to get out of today."
Massachusetts opened the day with victory in all four doubles matches - three counting toward team scoring for the doubles point - that put the Minutewomen ahead of Providence heading into singles action. Following a short break in the action, all eight Minutewomen returned to the courts for singles play and claimed victory over their Friar counterparts.
