Softball Falls 16-3 To Toledo

March 21, 2026 | Softball

BOSTON – University of Massachusetts softball (8-17, 1-5 MAC) dropped the final game of a three game slate against Toledo (7-20, 4-2 MAC), 16-3. The Rockets set seasons high in runs scored (16) and hits (18).

The Minutewomen offense was lead by Brooke Musch, who went a perfect 2-2 from the plate with a triple for her eighth multi-hit game of the season, and Eliana Raposo, who hit her first home run at the Division I level.

Lillie Scheivert added an RBI for the Minutewomen, and Lily Woodworth tacked on a single.

After surrendering a leadoff single to Eli Enriquez, Tiegan Walsh threw out Enriquez attempting to swipe second. Kelsey Blanchette retired the next two batters to hold Toledo off the board.

The Minutewomen offense got to work early, as Riain Keefe worked a walk and Brooke Musch beat out a bunt to open the frame. Odyssey Torres moved both runners over on a sacrifice bunt, and Scheivert plated Keefe with a grounder to third.

The lead was short-lived, as the Rockets piled up nine runs on seven hits and four Minutewomen errors, taking a commanding 9-1 lead.

The Rocket lead increased to 15 with two runs scored in the third and two in the fourth.

A sacrifice fly plated the 16th run for Toledo in the top of the fifth.

The Minutewomen didn't go down easy, as Raposo hit a leadoff home run to left field, and Musch tripled and scored on a wild pitch to bring the score to 16-3.

Blanchette took the loss for the Minutewomen, allowing five runs on four hits, zero walks and zero strikeouts in 1.0 inning. Hannah Streicher and Olivia Cutuli entered in relief, with Streicher allowing nine runs on nine hits, one walk and one strikeout in 2.1 innings, and Cutuli allowing two runs on five hits and one strikeout in 1.2 innings. Katie McDonald (5-4) earned the win for the Rockets, allowing one hit and one run in 3.0 innings.

The Minutewomen return to action for a matchup with in-state rival UMass Lowell at home on Tuesday, March 24, at 2pm.
